A Farmhouse in Lunigiana, between Sea and the “Alps Apuane”
Our farmhouse “Casa Turchetti” is located in the green Lunigiana, in High Tuscany, in the very old village of Cattognano, Comano municipality (province of Massa Carrara) and along the ancient medieval route “via Francigena”.
Green Lunigiana - rich of history and beautiful landscapes – was always a borderland halfway among Tuscany, Liguria and Emilia, where wild nature has survived and where landscape is dotted with beautiful ancient villages and one hundred of impressive medieval castles.
Lunigiana valleys therefore are a habitat in which Nature and History cross each other in exceptional harmony, and where the presence of man, far from spoiling the scenery, left rich artistic evidences.
Our Farmhouse fits inside this landscape context, 500 meters above sea level and 30 Km from the Tyrrhenian Sea, close to “Alps Apuane” and to the “Parco Naturale dei Cento Laghi” (One-Hundred Lakes Natural Park).
The great house is an ancient mansion built by our ancestors since the half of 17th century and to the beginning of 19th century, today completely restored with every modern comfort but maintaining in the structure all the charm of an ancient historical building.
You can visit the different accommodations in rooms or apartments; certainly you’ll find the one you prefer.
Inside the complex there is a restaurant where to taste typical dishes.
It is the perfect solution to escape from summer dog-days, to enjoy fresh even in the August nights, with thousands of fire-flies in the fields, almost a reflection of a pure starry sky, in a silence broken only by the breeze swishing in the tree leaves. One of the rare oasis where to enjoy wild nature today in Tuscany.
Moreover it is the ideal holiday for those who love nature, trekking (the mansion is surrounded by walnut woods and a lot of CAI selected pathways) and kayak. The Taverone torrent, 1 kilometre far from the mansion, is a desired course for those who love that activity and for those who love to have a bath in its fresh and clear waters. Besides it is possible to pick up mushrooms in our private woods.
