The Great House - where our farmhouse is set - was built as from the 15th century over the remains of a preceding medieval castle.
Still today in fact the house area is reminded as “the Cattognano Castle” in several maps.
During the 17th century all the present ground floor was completed: over the valley door (“Horse Apartment”) the date 1635 is engraved.
During the 18th century the adjoined Oratory was built up, and it was consecrated in the year 1720. Today the Oratory is subject to conservative obligation by the Italian Art Ministry (“Belle Arti”).
At the beginning of the 19th century all the present first floor was built up: over the green door of the main entrance the date 1804 is engraved.
At the beginning of the 20th century the second floor was completed too.
The Turchetti family was involved in the historical events of Lunigiana as from 1700: it is reminded that Turchettis leaded a conspiracy organized by the minor nobles against the Malaspina overlords excessive power.
Furthermore several documents still in family possession give evidence of the Turchetti important personages in the civil events in the municipalities of Fivizzano and Tavernelle in Lunigiana.
At last, during the Second World War family gave hospitality, in the great Cattognano house, to escaping people of both the forces.
Today the great house is owned by family Radaelli, direct descendant from family Turchetti..
